Easy way to proceed- learn guitar chords

Guitar unlike many other instruments has many variations. It is more difficult and challenging than many other instruments as there are six different positions on the neck of the guitar from where you can produce the sound of the same note. Therefore, the conventional music sheet is not very useful for this piece of instrument. Therefore tablature is very important to learn the easy guitar chords to the more complicated guitar tabs. So if you want to master the guitar chords, you must learn the tablature.

To start with one must first know what a guitar tab is. It is basically the graphical representation which shows the position of each note from where it is to be played. It ranges from the guitar chords to the complicated transcriptions. However there is no change in the basics. The faster you master the guitar tabs, the sooner you will learn the instrument.

While learning from the online guitar chords you must be careful because the representation of these tabs is different in magazines and in the online lessons. Online tabs are represented by dashes for the different strings and the different letters and symbols represent the different techniques. Generally the tabs that are in the printed medium are more accurate than the online tabs. But for the beginner online guitar chords lessons are also invaluable sources.

While representing the tabs in the online guitar chords, the letter that is placed in the left shows the tuning of the string. If the tuning is not shown, then it means that the song has the standard tuning.

The notes and the guitar chords are represented by using numbers which tell you which fret to be played and also tells you about the fret that is to be played. ‘O’ is used to represent an open note. For e.g., an E major chord will be represented as shown below:

Seeing this tab one can understand that the A and the D strings should be fret at the second fret and the G string will be fret at the first fret. The remaining strings are left open. When the numbers are stacked one upon each other it means that you should play all those notes at the same time. But the how long to hold the note is not indicated in the online guitar chords lessons. In the tablature that is more professional, the name of the chords is mentioned below.

But when you are a beginner and are learning the beginner guitar chords, you might find the notations confusing. But with practice you must be more and more comfortable. To be more confident you will have to listen to the song very often and try to play with it. You must be very careful about the rhythms and their notations. It becomes very difficult sometimes to note the timings of the notes. You will have to approximate the rhythm and also try to find the value of the notes. For this as well you will have to listen to the song again and again. Use the online guitar chords available for the songs you like and practice.

But with practice you can master the guitar chords and then slowly progress towards the more complicated transcriptions.
